DMCA Notice & Takedown Policy

SoundBites is built by and for people who make sound: producers, engineers, and sound designers who care about craft. That respect extends to the work of others. If you believe material hosted on this site infringes your copyright, send us a written notice and we will review it promptly and in good faith.

Reaching Our Designated Agent

Notices should be directed to the agent we have designated to receive claims of infringement:

Email is the fastest route. If you prefer physical delivery, write to us first at {contact_email} to request a mailing address.

What a Valid Notice Should Contain

To let us act quickly, your notification needs to include all of the following:

  1. The copyrighted work. Identify the protected material you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, list them together.
  2. The infringing material and where it lives. Give us the specific URL or URLs on SoundBites so we can locate the exact page, file, or download — not just the top-level domain.
  3. Your contact details. Include your name, mailing address, telephone number, and an email address we can reply to.
  4. A good faith statement. State that you believe in good faith that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement under penalty of perjury. Confirm that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed, or are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
  6. Your signature. A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to submit the claim.

Incomplete notices slow everything down. Check each item before you hit send.

If Your Material Was Removed: Counter-Notice

If a plugin demo, sample pack, review excerpt, or other upload of yours was taken down and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, you may file a counter-notice with the same agent. Include your contact information, identification of the removed material and the URL where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed in error, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate federal court. We will forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant.

How Long We Take

We aim to acknowledge and act on properly completed notices within 5 to 10 business days. Notices missing any required element may be returned for completion, which resets that clock. Repeat infringers will have their accounts and submissions removed.
